The name

Why 1571

On the 7th of October, 1571, a vastly outnumbered Christian fleet met the Ottoman navy in the Gulf of Lepanto. Pope St. Pius V had called all of Christendom to pray the Rosary. Against every expectation the Holy League prevailed, and the victory was given to Our Lady. The Pope established the feast we keep still: Our Lady of the Rosary, first called Our Lady of Victory.

1571 takes its name from that day: a principled force, rightly ordered and entrusted to Our Lady, prevailing against the prevailing order. It is our whole thesis in a single date: capital, like that fleet, set to a purpose beyond itself.
